How Payments Work

Making payments on DanceSignUp.com is really simple. If you’re a Studio and paying for Routines, all you need is a free Amazon.com account. If you’re a Competition and receiving payments for Routines all you’ll need is a free Amazon Payments Business Account. Read more about why we chose Amazon Payments.

Here is how payments work in DanceSignUp.com.

  1. A Studio finds an Event date published by a Competition that they want to sign up for. They click on Sign Up and are taken to the new Routine page. After signing up each Routine for their chosen Event, the Studio now has a group of Routines or a Routine Group.
  2. The sum total of the Studio’s Routine Group is $2500.
  3. To pay, the Studio clicks on the Amazon Payments button on the Routine Group’s page then is taken to the Amazon Payments site where they choose their funding source, i.e. – credit card, bank account or Amazon account balance, and completes their payment.
  4. The money is then transferred to the Competition’s Amazon account minus DanceSignUp.com’s fee and Amazon’s processing fee.
  5. The Studio is automatically taken back to DanceSignUp.com and is given a confirmation page that their payment has been processed.
  6. Once the Routine Group has been paid for, the Competition will be able to see the individual Routines and schedule their performance date and time.

How much does DanceSignUp.com cost?

Using the above illustration of a Studio’s payment of $2500 for a group of Routines we’ll look at a breakdown of DanceSignUp.com’s fee and Amazon’s processing fee.

  • Amazon’s processing fees vary depending on your monthly payment volume. They do offer volume discounts for the following levels.
    1. 2.9% + $0.30 for all transactions for monthly payment volume less than $3,000
    2. 2.5% + $0.30 for all transactions for monthly payment volume from $3,000-$10,000
    3. 2.2% + $0.30 for all transactions for monthly payment volume from $10,000-$100,000
  • DanceSignUp.com charges 3.0% + $0.50 per transaction

Out of the $2500 that Studio paid to Competition, $72.80 would go to Amazon for processing the transaction. This is calculated using the base rate of 2.9% + $0.30. If this transaction was made later in the month and other Routine Groups had already been paid for, the volume discount could kick in and the charge would be $62.80 using the 2.5% + $0.30 volume discount level.

DanceSignUp.com’s fee is $75.50 for this transaction. The total amount going to fees is $148.30 or 5.9% + $0.80. You can see this demonstrated graphically in the pie chart on the right.
